Auto Insurance Rates on the Rise Again

Auto insurance rates are on the rise again in New Jersey. The state which is already known for having some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country will see insurance rates go higher if the state approves the increases sought by insurance companies.

New Jersey is the third most expensive state for automobile insurance in a report released by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Average automobile insurance expenditures in New Jersey was $1081. Louisiana was the second most costly average at $1,105 and Washington D.C. had the highest cost at $1,126.

Gov. Chris Christie’s administration is proposing changes to bring auto insurance rates lower by overhauling New Jersey’s auto insurance rules to limit medical expenses for people injured in car crashes.

A new rule would make dozens of changes to the state’s personal injury protection, or PIP, system. You can read more about the proposed changes here: Proposed PIP Insurance Changes.
