Right now on our 1 year list of national CD rates E-Loan.com has the best rate. E-Loan is offering 1 year bank CD rates at 1.25% with a bank CD yield of 1.26%. E-Loan's rate is more than double the current national average 12 month CD rate of 0.559% as reported by MonitorBankRates.com.

The second best CD rate on our 1 year national rates list is from Union National Bank. The Elgin, Illinois bank is offering 1 year CD interest rates at 1.21% with a yield of 1.22%. Union National Bank’s CD rate is also more than double the current national average.

The third highest CD rate on our list is from Bank of Internet. The Internet bank has 12 month rates at 1.20% with a yield of 1.21%.

The fourth best rate of 1.19% with a yield of 1.20% is from three different banks. Discover Bank, Ally Bank and Sallie Mae Bank are all offering 1 year CD rates at 1.19% with a yield of 1.20%.

Rounding out the top 5 CD rates is Nationwide Bank and AIG Bank. Current 1 year rates from both banks are 1.14% with a yield of 1.15%.

The lowest CD rate on our national rate list is from Citizens Bank. The bank is offering 1 year rates and yields at 0.05%. Wachovia Bank's 1 year rate isn't much higher at 0.15%. Guess these banks aren't really in need of deposit these days since they can borrow money from the Fed at 0%.
