Average Mortgage Rates Today Decline on Aid Package for Spain’s Banks

Average mortgage rates today and bond yields are lower on investor concerns about the bailout of Spain's banks. The bailout package announced over the weekend didn't do much to alleviate investor concerns about the debt problems in the European Union. As a result bond yields and U.S. stock market indices declined.

10 year bond yields declined 4 basis points today with yields closing at 1.60 percent. Average 30 year mortgage rates are at 3.67 percent, down from Friday''s average 30 year mortgage rate of 3.72 percent. These rates are average rates you can find mortgage refinance rates below 3.50 percent on 30 year loans right now.

The next couple of days we will probably see new all-time lows in bond yields and average mortgage rates. Current mortgage rates on 15 year home loans are averaging 3.02 percent, down from Friday's average 15 year mortgage rate of 3.09 percent. Right now on our rate tables there are many lenders offering 15 year refinance rates below 3.00 percent.

30 year jumbo mortgage rates are averaging 4.28 percent, down from Friday's average 30 year jumbo rate of 4.34 percent. 15 year jumbo mortgage rates are averaging 3.55 percent, down from Friday's average 15 year jumbo rate of 3.59 percent.
