Amex Savings Account Rates & Review: Current Savings Rates at 1.00%

American Express Bank, the banking division of the credit card company American Express, continues to offer one of the highest savings account rates available. Amex savings rates are current at 1.00% with a yield of 1.00%. Amex's savings rate is slightly better than Ally Bank and Aurora Bank's savings account rates.

Amex's savings rates and CD rates have been lowered the past several years which isn't unusual for any bank. Back in January of this year Amex savings account rates were at 1.29% and Amex CD rates on 1 year CDs were at 1.50%.

I doubt Amex will lower the rate they pay on their High Yield Savings Account again this year but if you want to lock in on a rate, current 1 year CD rates at Amex are at 0.90%. 

Amex's High Yeild Savings Account is still about 5 times the current national average rate of 0.20% as reported by MonitorBankRates.com.
