How the data is collected
Rates are gathered by proprietary automated systems that collect and organize publicly available rate information from more than 8,500 banks, credit unions, and financial institutions across the United States. National figures are unweighted averages of qualifying products; state figures include only institutions offering the product to residents of that state. Deposit yields are reported as APY and lending rates as APR, matching how institutions advertise them.
