Explore Other Rate DealsToday's Mortgage RatesMortgage rates decreased in the latest mortgage survey released this morning. 30 year year mortgage rates are once again back under 5.00 percent according to the most recent Weekly Applications Survey released by the Mortgage Bankers Association. The average contract 30 year mortgage rate was 4.96 percent for the week ending May 7, 2010, down from the prior week's average mortgage rate of 5.02 percent. Mortgage discount points averaged 0.91 points, down from the prior week's average of 0.92 points.
Mortgage rates increased slightly today after two consecutive days of declines. Mortgage rates have been in a tight range between 4.05% and 4.25% for the past several weeks. We expect mortgage rates to continue to be range bound for the foreseeable future. Mortgage rates today on 30 year mortgages are averaging 4.19%, an increase from yesterday's average 30 year mortgage rates of 4.12%. 15 year mortgage rates headed in the opposite direction declining 4 basis points to 3.41%.
