Mortgage Rates Week of October, 31, 2011Mortgage rates are barely changed this week over last. Today's mortgage rates on 30 year mortgage loans are averaging 4.13%, a slight increase from last week’s average 30 year mortgage rate of 4.11%. Average mortgage rates on 15 year mortgages are higher this week averaging 3.42%, an increase from last week’s average 15 year mortgage rate of 3.39%.
Since this past September, the Federal Reserve has lowered the federal-funds rate six times, from 5.25% to 2.25%, over the same period, certificate of deposit yields have dropped in tandem.
