National average CD rates declined slightly again this week over last. CD rates will stay at the current levels until the end of 2010 or early 2011. The fed also kept it's language intact on keeping the fed funds rates low for an extended period of time since inflation is subdued.Looking for the best bank CD rates and credit union CD rates? Search our CD rate tables at CDRates.MonitorBankRates.com to find the best CD rates in your area. The current national average 3 month CD interest rate is 0.425 percent this week. FDIC List of Troubled Banks and the Texas Ratio

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) maintains a list of problem banks that isn't published or shared with anyone else. So how can the average depositor or lender know if their bank is a problem bank about to fail?

The Texas Ratio is one measure that might offer a clue. The ratio was developed by RBC Capital Markets analyst Gerard Cassidy in the 1980's to forecast which banks could fail during the 1980's real estate bubble...Deja vu, anyone?

The ratio is devised by comparing a bank's troubled loans to its capital. If the amount of bad loans equals or exceeds its capital, a ratio of 100% or higher, the bank might not have enough capital to cover its losses related to the bad loans on its books. Updated Failed Bank List Below:

Current savings account rates and money market rates are still near record lows as we head into the new year. 2013 ends another year of very low deposit rates. Interest rates have been low for over 5 years now, ever since the financial crisis and "Great Recession." The question we hear all the time is when we can expect deposit rates to move higher.
Mortgage rates are mixed today after setting all time lows earlier this week.  Today's mortgage rates on 30 year mortgages are averaging 4.13%, up from yesterday's average 30 year mortgage rate of 4.12%.
Already low fixed mortgage rates have made yet another low today. Both 30 year and 15 year fixed mortgage interest rates hit another low in this week's Primary Mortgage Market Survey released be Freddie Mac. Mortgage rates are lower thanks to lower Treasury yields on concern about Greece's debt and the European Union.
