Savers can't get break! Since the financial crisis and the recession savings account rates have been pathetic. Savings rates will continue to be pathetic until at least the end of 2014 since the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) plans to keep the Fed funds rate in a targeted range of zero percent to one quarter percent.

Mortgage rates continue to make record lows reaching another new low today. Equity markets tumbled last week and 10 year bond yields plummeted to 2.07% on fears of a recession in the world's major economies.  are lower once again today, following bond yields lower as the equity markets tumble. Current mortgage rates on 30 year conforming mortgages are averaging 4.14%, down from yesterday’s average 30 year rate of 4.24%. Today's mortgage rates on 15 year mortgages also hit new lows at 3.36%, down from yesterday’s average 15 year rate of 3.44%.

Home Savings Bank, headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio, has recently lowered CD rates on their 1 and 2 year internet certificates of deposit. Home Savings Bank lowered CD rates by 10 basis points on their regular certificates of deposit and 20 basis points on their jumbo certificates of deposit.
