Current National CD Rate Trends

The national 12-Month CD rose by 0.019 this week, pushing the current average APY to 2.817%. Savers depositing this week are earning more than they would have last week, when the national average stood at 2.798%.

The 6-Month CD also moved higher this week, rising to 2.679% from 2.667% last week. The spread between the 12-Month CD and 6-Month CD currently stands at 0.138 percentage points.

These averages are calculated from 27,257 verified CD rate quotes collected across 2,693 banks and credit unions reporting nationally — updated daily by MonitorBankRates.com's proprietary systems. Rates are what real licensed institutions are actually offering to depositors, not promotional teaser rates.
