Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) is advertising four different types of savings accounts and a money market account. The savings account include a Share Savings Account, an IRA Savings Account, a Vacation Savings Account and a Holiday Savings Account.
The minimum opening balance for a Share Savings Account is $1.00. There is no minimum opening balances for the rest of the savings accounts. There is a minimum savings account balance of $50 to earn the current savings rate and annual percentage yield (APY).
State Farm Federal Credit Union has a very good rate on their share savings accounts. State Farm FCU's highest rates are on their Share Savings Accounts and IRA Savings Accounts. The rate on both is currently at 1.25% with an APY of 1.26%. The credit union's E-Shares rate is slightly lower at 1.15% with an APY of 1.16%.
Most were expecting higher mortgage rates throughout 2014 but just the opposite is happening. Early in the year, mortgage analysts were predicting conventional 30 year mortgage rates would hit 5.00 percent by the end of 2014.
