CD rates continue to move higher this week. We look for the trend of higher CD rates to continue in 2017 as long as there isn't a recession. The Fed is expected to increase the federal funds rate at least two more times this year, which will put more upward pressure on CD rates.

Mortgage rates are mixed today, conforming rates are higher and jumbo rates are lower. Mortgage rates on 30 year mortgages are averaging 4.21%, an increase from yesterday’s average 30 year mortgage rate of 4.13%. This is the second consecutive day 30 year rates have increased. 15 year mortgage rates currently are averaging  3.38%, an increase from yesterday’s average 15 year mortgage rate of 3.30%.
